Grant McKay Weight passed away peacefully in his sleep from causes incident to age on May 20, 2021.
He was born in Springville, Utah, on April 8, 1922, the third child of Willis Alfred Weight and Mary Jane Hogan Weight, and lived in Springville for most of his life.
After the United States joined World War II, he chose to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served his country aboard the U.S.S. Wharton and several other ships in the Pacific theater from Aug. 1942 to Dec. 1945.
Grant then chose to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the North Central States Mission from Dec. 1946 to Dec. 1948. He served primarily at the Fort Peck Indian Reservation at Wolf Point, Mont., among the Sioux and Assiniboine peoples.
After his military and church service were over, Grant married his sweetheart, Vida Maxine Eves, on Aug. 24, 1949, in the Salt Lake City temple.
Grant and Maxine were married for almost 72 years, during which time they raised a large family and served a mission together in the South Africa Johannesburg Mission from June 1992 to Dec. 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, and their 13 children, along with their spouses:

He is also survived by 64 grandchildren and 139 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville.
Funeral services for Grant McKay Weight will be held on May 25, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the Springville Hobble Creek Stake Center at 495 S. Canyon Road, Springville, Utah, with an additional viewing preceding the services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Grant McKay Weight will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville with full military honors. He will be remembered as a great man and eternally thanked for being an honorable and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
