Harrison Neil Hunter was born in Oakley, Idaho to Harrison Boyd and Gene Cooper Hunter on March 1, 1946.  Neil grew up in the Oakley/Burley area until he was a Senior in High School, when he moved to Hayward, California.  There he met his lifelong mate and the love of his life, Michalene Fey Kennedy. They were married and sealed for time and eternity in the Oakland California Temple on June 24, 1967.

Throughout his life he was a Jack-of-all trades including: farmer, plumber, roofer, construction worker, door maker, repairman, and woodworker. Always the hard worker, wanting nothing more than to provide for his family and a nice big truck. In 1987 they and their five kids settled in Manteca, California to work with his brother. Here they welcomed many children into their home through foster care. Eventually 4 of those kids were adopted into their family.

Neil had a heart attack in 1997 that caused him to be on disability for the rest of his life.  In 2002 they moved to Gridley, California where they could have animals and land for him to take care of and share with all of his grandkids. They spent many happy years there close to family. In 2018 they moved to Lyman, Wyoming where they could have a little more help with his deteriorating health and enjoy farm life from the front porch. He was cared for very lovingly by his wife of 55 years.  He was admitted to the hospital in Evanston, Wyoming and returned to his Heavenly home just 30 hours later, on November 17, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived in life by his wife, Michalene Fey Kennedy and his siblings: Cyrus LaMont Hunter (Evelyn), Wesley Layne Hunter (Frankie), Calvin Ray Hunter (Donna), Sheila Mortimer (Lyle) and Gregory Boyd Hunter (Lisa), his children: Harrison Trevor Hunter (Charmayne), Haylee Davis (Ryan), Kalli Hill (James), Paij Collins (Brent), Jarom Herb Hunter (Alyssa), Brandie Marie Hunter, Tena Marie Hunter, Rachel Lynn Cumberland (Andrew), and Thomas Lee Hunter (Bernice) his grandchildren: Harrison Race Hunter (Kiri), Nickeles Trevor Hunter (Stephanie), Ian Kinkade Hunter (Lauren), Cypress Nikole Hill, Dylan Ryan Davis, Tayla Gene Hill, Lexi Shae Davis, Tyden James Hill, Morgan Kennedy Collins, Bode Neil Davis, Kasen Cole Hill, Jaycee Elise Collins, Elizabeth Marcae Cumberland, Cymber Fey Hill, Elijah Paul Reinhardt, Mia Paige Davis, Kinsey Gail Collins, Remington Thomas Hunter, Juliette Estelle Reinhardt, Alda Hunter, Hudson Gray Hunter, Harper Geraldine Hunter, Evelynn Fae Cumberland, and Jackson Albert Cumberland, and great-granddaughter: Jericho Tilomai Hunter.
