Janice Orella (Ogden) Broderick

Janice Orella Ogden Broderick passed away peacefully Sunday, November 14 from a stroke. Many Family members were able to visit, kiss and tell her goodbye before she returned to her Heavenly Father, her husband and family.

Janice was born December 26, 1936 in Richfield Utah, to Keith and Phyllis Ogden. She grew up on a farm in Marysvale, Utah with three sisters. She was never a cowgirl, of her farming life she was most proud that she could milk a cow with her long beautiful fingernails. She attended Piute high school where she loved being a cheerleader, attending dances and making lifelong friendships with her classmates. She stayed in contact with most of them through out her life. She attended SUU in Cedar City and later worked for Mountain Bell in Richfield Utah. She was an operator with her cousin there. While walking one day she told her, “see that lineman? I’m going to marry him.”  She had never met him nor knew his name. But one year later they were married in Marysvale and she spent the next 49 years with the love of her life, Dean Broderick.

They welcomed a son in Richfield and then moved to Orem, welcomed two daughters, and raised their family there. She taught piano lessons to most of the children in the neighborhood for many years and loved teaching and giving recitals. Janice was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held several callings, Pianist, primary worker, Relief Society teacher. Her favorite to callings were working in the Relief Society and being Sunday School coordinator. She was a great example of faith and her testimony blessed the lives of her three children, her posterity and friends.

Janice loved country music, shopping, jewelry, ice cream, Pepsi, traveling with her good friends John and Joann Bone, and Christmas. She instilled the love of Christmas, decorating and music to her children and grandchildren. She was a great example to her family. She loved being with her children and grandchildren. She would babysit, travel to Delta to school programs, have old movie night sleep overs, with giant pancake breakfasts. She was a loving mother and grandmother, that will be missed. we are grateful she is with her sweetheart Dean, after being separated for 15 years.

She is survived by her three children Michael (Kim) Broderick, Sandra (Bruce) Rees, Sherrie (Deemar) Callister, a bonus son Brandon Henrie, friends John and Joann Bone, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Sister Sheila O’Brien, Debbie Allen and many nieces and nephews that she loves.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gerald Dean Broderick, granddaughter Jessica Broderick, her sister Corrine Boren and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19 at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville, UT 84663. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:30-12:30 p.m. with the funeral following at 1 PM. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
