LaVon Jean (Hansen) Cloward

May 9, 1940 — August 2, 2022

Fillmore, UT

LaVon Hansen Cloward, 82, of Fillmore, Utah, passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2022 with her family by her side in the American Fork Hospital. LaVon was born May 9, 1940 in Bountiful, Utah to Aaron Albertus Hansen and Marva Attera Jensen.
LaVon grew up in a large family, the youngest of ten children.  She loved her childhood and spent many summers at a family sawmill near Escalante, Utah.  There she learned to cook, sew, crochet, and enjoy the great outdoors.  They would move back to town when school started.  She attended school in Bountiful, Springville, and Richfield, Utah. She remembered when five of her brothers all went to war, and miraculously returned.
LaVon was a beloved mother and grandmother. She sewed her children’s clothing, was an excellent cook (her cinnamon rolls were the best!) and taught her children the value of hard work. She took them camping and fishing and was always there when they needed her. She had a quick wit and fun sense of humor with a contagious laugh. Faith and Family were everything; she loved deeply and unconditionally.
She loved gardening, oil painting, ceramics, creating miniature fairy gardens, and all things tiny.  She gifted many pairs of crocheted or knitted baby booties, and hand-crafted bolo ties. If there was something she wanted, she would try to figure out how to make it herself. She enjoyed learning new things.
LaVon will be missed dearly. She is survived by five children: Sandy (Duane) Hill of Salem, Utah; Maureen (Dave) Gren of Fillmore, Utah; Russell (Melinda) Gagon of Burnet, Texas; Janus Gagon of Fillmore, Utah; Laura (James) Thompson of Santaquin, Utah; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Colleen and Della; and former husband Jerald Gagon.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Norman; siblings, Elmer, Delmer, Merlin, Mark, Lynn, Don, Marva and previous spouses, Eldon Davidson, Orville Crask, and LaVar Cloward.
In lieu of funeral services, there will be a celebration of life memorial at a future date for LaVon’s close family. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
