Muriel Ernestine (Olive) Wilcox

July 24, 1934 — September 10, 2021

Springville

On September 10, 2021, Muriel Ernestine Olive Wilcox, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She lived 87 years.  Muriel was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, on July 24, 1934, to Douglas Ernest Olive and Mary Muriel Crawford. She was the youngest of three girls and affectionally known as “Toye”.
Muriel spoke fondly of her years growing up on Martello Road near the Bay of Fundy. She spent her summers at the beach swimming in the ocean, and the winter months ice skating every day after school. After graduating from Saint John High School, Muriel left her beloved Canada and moved to Provo, Utah. While attending Brigham Young University, she met her eternal companion, Joel William Wilcox. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 7, 1957.  Joel and Muriel were blessed with four sons and raised them in Utah and Washington state.  Their life was full of laughter, poems, songs, and crazy shenanigans. As a life-long faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Muriel served in many different callings with the highlight being a missionary with Joel in the Halifax, Nova Scotia Mission.  Muriel and Joel were inseparable in life, and we are comforted to know they are now reunited.
Muriel was preceded in death by her husband Joel Wilcox, her son Michael Wilcox, great- grandson John Mitchell, and sister Marilyn Berry. She is survived by her sister Nola Gallup, Rexburg, Idaho; daughter-in-law Julie Wilcox, Provo, Utah; son Lance (Neal Wagner) Wilcox, Springville, Utah; son Craig (Lisa) Wilcox, Soldotna, Alaska; son Daniel (Michelle) Wilcox, Springville, Utah; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. September 17, 2021, with a viewing 10:00-10:45 a.m. in the Spring Creek 4th Ward Chapel located at 350 North 400 East in Springville, Utah. Burial will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
