Nancy Lee Nusink, 61, of Springville died from pancreatic cancer in her home, surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, June 17, 2021. She was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 6, 1960 to Rada Miner and David H. Nusink.

The family moved to Utah County where David worked for the Springville Police Department.  After a few years, the family moved to Spring Glen, while David worked at a weigh station for the Utah Highway Patrol. Nancy began her education there in Spring Glen.

In 1970, the family moved back to Springville because David was granted a transfer by the Utah Highway Patrol to Utah County.  They settled in Springville next to Nancy’s grandparents, Don and Wanda Miner.  There Nancy learned the value of hard work by helping on her grandparent’s dairy farm.  Nancy graduated from Springville High School in 1978.

She attended Utah Technical College and received an Associate’s degree.  Nancy started working at Fritzi’s in Spanish Fork.  The company made women’s clothing.  She worked there for several years.

When that job ended, Nancy worked at Teflex in Spanish Fork.  A defense contractor company that manufactured parts for the US military.

From there Nancy started to work for Temkin in Springville. She worked for Temkin for about 22 years until she had to quit to because of her diagnosis of Pancreatic cancer.  Temkin was located in Springville when she started working there.  The company later moved to Payson.  Nancy was a supervisor on one of the production lines when she left Temkin.

Growing up, Nancy loved to go deer and pheasant hunting with her dad and brothers.  We all noted how quick she was with a shotgun when hunting pheasants. She liked to walk the fence lines to scare up the pheasants. She also loved to cross-stitch and has stitched many designs over the years and has given some to family members.  Nancy also did some painting from paint kits. She also participated in bowling league for a few years.

Nancy served an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Ecuador Guayaquil mission.   This was a challenge for Nancy because she was a reserved and quiet person.  But she benefited from her mission by gaining confidence and the ability to speak to people that she did not know.  She also benefitted by learning the Spanish language which she used to communicate with Hispanic workers at while working at Temkin. She was an ordinance worker for 11 years total, serving in the Provo Temple and later in the Provo City Center Temple.

But probably her favorite hobby was being part of the Timpanogos Gem & Mineral Society.  But we knew it as the “Rock Club”. She gained many friends as she went on trips throughout Utah and surrounding states with this group.  She has collected many rocks and other items on these trips and would display them in her house. She would also display some of those items every year the annual Timpanogos Gem & Mineral Society show for the public to come and see the wonders of nature, interesting rocks, geodes and learn about the geology of Utah.

Nancy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Don and Wanda Miner, John James and Clara “Pansy” Nusink, her parents, Rada Miner Nusink, David Herman Nusink, nephew Wyatt Glen Nusink.  She is survived by her brothers, Brad (Tina) Nusink of Springville, Clair (Susan) Nusink of Springville, Layne Nusink of Lake Shore, and nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

The funeral for Nancy Lee Nusink will be on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Church located at 2557 South Dalton Drive in Springville.  There will be a viewing on Monday night June 21st from 6 pm to 8 pm at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville and another viewing just before the funeral from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the “Dalton Drive” church.  She will be laid to rest at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
