Nora (Morrill) Creer

Nora Morrill Creer passed away peacefully July 24, 2022 with her children by her side.  Born September 13, 1937 in Tridell, Utah, she resided in Springville for over 56 years.

Nora was passionate about serving others.  For many years she was on the Women’s Endowment Committee for the Festival of Trees which raises money for Primary Children’s Hospital.  Nora also served as President for the Women’s Legislative Committee.  She made many lifelong friends during her tenure with these committees.

With a passion for art, Nora and her husband Glade not only supported the local art community but also artists they would encounter while traveling.  She also served as secretary on the Springville Arts Community and took up painting in her later years.

Nora served many positions within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including Relief Society teacher and Ward secretary, along with serving in the Stake Relief Society Presidency.

Nora was an incredibly talented home decorator and hostess.  She, along with Glade, hosted many dinners and fundraisers in their home.  Additionally, Nora was an avid gardener and won many awards for her roses in the annual Springville Art City Days Flower Show.  While her children were young, she was their biggest cheerleader, never missing a sporting event, music lesson or dance recital.

Nora loved to travel and was a member of Elder Quest in Orem, and she enjoyed many trips in and out of the country with the group and made many dear friends.

Nora was an avid reader and always had two to three books she was reading at any given time.  She was particularly passionate about politics and history.  The depth of the books she read would impress even the most schooled historians.

Nora was known for her eloquent handwritten letters to family and friends. She noted it was a lost art, and she always made people feel special with her personalized notes.

Nora was preceded in death by sons Jay and Nyle and loving husband Glade.  She is survived by her children Jerry (Jennifer) Holdaway, Susan, (Kenneth) Trahan, Anna (Hugh Bjarnson), Paul (Bethany Creer); sisters Fern Wilkinson, Mary Weaver, Elma Shipp, Ella Wilson; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Teresa Merrill Severe, who for the last several years has served Nora in many ways ranging from house cleaning to chauffeur for errands and to doctors’ appointments, and more recently as caretaker.  Most important, she was Nora’s trusted and adored friend.

The family would also like to thank Bristol Hospice for their professionalism, love and care; with special thanks to Sarah Moore, Leslie Braithwaite and Jody Warner, and to Angel Sanchez and Kim Pauni at Ashford Assisted Living in Springville.

Nora was a lover of all animals.  She adopted several family pets from the South Utah Valley Animal Shelter in Spanish Fork.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Nora’s name at http://www.suvas.org
