Patty L. (Armstrong) Jensen

March 23, 1937 — December 29, 2020

Mapleton

Sugar and spice with everything nice is the perfect description for our “West Virginia Girl”. She lived a full and wonderful life that ended on Tuesday December 29, 2020.

Patty was born on March 23,1937 to Dice and Nina Armstrong near Moyers West Virginia. She stated that her dad charged people 10 cents to come in and see her because she had so much hair, it was almost unheard of.  She was the 3rd of 7 children and since there were not enough boys, as she grew she worked with the men to help with the farm chores. It was in the hills of West Virginia that she learned the importance of hard work, loyalty, the joy of perfecting talents, and the beauty of family. She has told many stories of her life there, we almost feel as though “Back East” is home to us too!

She is a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was baptized on July 4, 1954 at the age of 17. She married and had two sons, then later divorced. At 33 Patty met the love of her life at a singles dance. She and Rex were married on December 3, 1969. Together they had three more children and raised their family in Mapleton Utah. Her greatest accomplishments were her 5 children and the many callings she held in the church. She served diligently.

Patty accomplished many things in her life. She was a student at BYU, she was a chairside assistant for her brother Jim at his orthodontic practice, she was a beautician, a candy maker, a porcelain painter, a secretary, and worked for a catering business. She had many talents that she perfected in her life. Just a few of them were singing, cooking, painting, decorating, sewing, and cross-stitching. She has also been described as the world’s BEST visitor. She loved telling stories and dropping quotes.

She was just as stubborn as she was sweet, and she never held back on expressing her thoughts and feelings. She believed her opinion was gospel truth. Her mind stayed sharp until her very last moment. That is something we will be forever grateful for.

She had a love for helping the “under dogs”. She tried to give many people a new start in life regardless of what it cost her. But that was a beautiful thing about her. Patty was no quitter.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents Dice and Nina Armstrong, her oldest brother, Jim (Kay) Armstrong, her baby brother, John D. Armstrong, and her sweetheart Rex Fay Jensen. She leaves behind her siblings JoAnn (Wallace) Raynor, Sonja Cunningham, Martha (Dennis) Walker, and Gary (Lorraine) Armstrong. Her children Mark (Vikki) Koontz, Michael Jensen, Phillip (Markell) Jensen, James (Ulene) Jensen, and Michelle Allman. 15 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

We are going to miss our Mother, our Nana, our Friend.
