Ralph Joseph McClain, aged 79, of Springville, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, surrounded by his family.  He was born July 22, 1942, in Springville, Utah to George Albert McClain and Mollie Dalton McClain.  He was married and sealed to his beloved Carol Lee Chadwick on April 20, 1967 in the Manti Utah Temple.
Ralph was a dutiful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. He graduated from Springville Highschool. Following that he played football at Dixie State College for a year. Then he served as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Southern States. He was drafted into the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam, where he served his country loyally for two years. Ralph graduated from BYU with a Bachelor’s in history and Political Science, and a Master’s in Education Administration. He spent twenty-five years of his life teaching Seminary in Minidoka High School (Idaho), Payson Junior Highschool, Springville Highschool, Lehi Highschool, and Springville Junior High. His students, adults now, continue to speak very highly of him and the positive influence he was in their lives. He served in the Provo Mission Training Center as a member of a Branch Presidency and as a Branch President. He loved to be surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed horse riding, swimming, and road trips with his wife Carol. Friends and family will remember his mischievous sense of humor and have many stories involving creative pranks he orchestrated.
Ralph is survived by his wife Carol and his eight children and their families: Mark and Georgia McClain of Springville, Rebekah and Mark Pickett of Springville, Angela and Eric Nicol of Springville, Priscilla and Marco Figueroa of Springville, Teresa and David McConnell of Springville, Nisha McClain of Springville, Deanna and Donald Smith of Orem, and Daniel and Louise McClain of Spanish Fork.  He is also the proud grandfather of thirty-two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mollie, his siblings Albert, Bill and Rowena, his granddaughter Adyson, and his grandsons Branden and Andrew.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hobble Creek West 5th Ward Chapel located at 1460 E 900 S, Springville Utah.  A viewing for friends and family will be held Saturday morning prior to the funeral services from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.  Burial will be in the Springville Heritage Cemetery.
