Reed F. Clements, 94, of Springville, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021.  He was born June 21, 1926, in Springville, to Gertrude Averett Clements and Reed Clements. He had 5 siblings, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. He married Beverly Jean Brady in March of 1951.  They had three children and were later divorced.  He married Elaine Child in November of 1988 and he gained 4 more children. Reed and Elaine were later sealed in the Provo Temple. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2015.

Reed served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.  He attended BYU for 2 years.  He worked in the construction industry for about 40+ years. He loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, horseback riding, golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  He was very social and loved being around people.  Reed was a great story teller and could entertain everyone for hours with some of his tales. Once, after entertaining some young people with his tales, he was referred to as one of “society’s hidden gems.” He was blessed with a fantastic memory and knew a little something about everything. Reed was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. He and his wife Elaine served three missions—Macon, Georgia, Mesa, Arizona and St. George, Utah. Reed loved his sweetheart Elaine dearly and their children-7, grandchildren-31, and great grandchildren-42.

Reed is survived by 6 children:  Kelly (Jeanie) Clements of Springville, Utah; Kim (Frank) Gonzales of Payson, Utah; Jana (Tom) Carter of Mapleton, Utah; Tony (Tat) Child of South Jordan, Utah; Cheryl Child Wilson of Springville, Utah; Stacey (Mark) Weeks of Carson City, Nevada; and 2 sisters and 1 brother: Kara (Elroy) Roberts of Springville, Utah; David Clements of Payson, Utah; and Paula (Robert-Deceased) Mendenhall of Las Vegas, Nevada.  He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, daughter Pam Child and brothers Tom and Bryce Clements.  He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We are saddened by the loss of our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.  We would love to have a huge gathering to celebrate his life, but due to Covid restrictions there will be a private viewing and funeral held on Saturday, January 9, 2021. The funeral services will be streaming on the Wheeler Mortuary facebook page starting at 10:50 am. on Saturday, January 9th.  Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery with military rights by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Humanitarian Fund or a charity of your choice.   We would like to have a celebration of memories of Reed on or around June 21st (his birthday) at his gravesite.  Information for this will be forthcoming.

We would like to thank all of those who touched Reed’s life: family, friends, hair stylists, neighbors, ward members, mission friends, Dr. Richard Olsen/other doctors, healthcare givers, and the sweet staff at Utah Valley Hospital who cared for him in his final days.

We invite friends to join us via livestream, please use the following Live Stream link https://www.facebook.com/wheelermortuary
