Ridge M Phillips

March 31, 1934 — May 12, 2020

Ridge M. Phillips, 86, of Springville, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020.  He was born March 31, 1934 in Pocatello, ID, number seven of eight children, to Morgan and Mae Higgins Phillips. He married Bonnie Hall on June 18, 1954 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Ridge grew up on a farm in the Pocatello area and later moved to Inkom, Idaho. During high school, he lettered four years in football and three years in basketball. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 22, 1950 at the age of 16.  After he and Bonnie married, they moved to the Provo area where he completed a degree in accounting at BYU, and stayed in Utah Valley from then on, where they raised four children. He worked as an accountant for 27 years at Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company where he rose to be the company controller. He then purchased half interest in a construction company and had many other entrepreneurial ventures throughout his life.
Ridge loved serving others and his Heavenly Father.  He held numerous Church callings including serving as ward and stake clerks, High Council, and Bishop.  He and Bonnie served two full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: Rochester, NY in 2000 and the Training Resource Center at the MTC in 2004.
Travel was a passion for Ridge as well.  He and Bonnie traveled to many places including Canada, Mexico, Greece, Japan, Jordan, Israel, most of Europe and the Caribbean.  Ridge loved following politics, playing golf, and was an avid sports fan, especially BYU sports. His greatest love was his family.  Nothing made him happier than to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ridge was generous with both his time and resources. He constantly served those around him and did anything possible to ease the burdens of others.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie, and his children, Shellie (Dave) Graves of Springville, Scott (Linda) Phillips of Provo, Barry (Susan) Phillips of Saratoga Springs and Jerilee (Kenny) Riddle of St. George, 19 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
A grave side service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2020, 12:00 noon at the Provo Cemetery.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it is requested that only immediate family and close friends attend.
