Ruth Ramona (Shepherd) Lowe

May 10, 1928 — September 17, 2021

Springville

Mother, wife, grandma, caregiver and dear friend, Ruth Shepherd Lowe's zest and love for life will be remembered with tender love long after her passing.

Ruth S. Lowe passed away September 17, 2021 at the age of 93. Towards the end mom was trying to wait patiently to be able to go home to her many loved ones awaiting her with arms wide open.

Mom was born May 10, 1928 to Asa and Caroline Shepherd. She graduated from Springville High School where she was a very proud and happy Springville Red Devil Cheerleader. She never forgot her title as such. When she would go to her class reunions she was always ready to perform some cheers for her fellow classmates. As years and years passed by she became the last living cheerleader left to perform. She was still so happy and insisted upon doing it. She was never embarrased or shy about doing a Springville Red Devil Cheer. Even in her very last days, the cute nurses took a video of her cheering, (while sitting down,) and sent it to the family.  They all loved her kindness and enthusiasm.

She married Kenneth E. Lowe November 18, 1946. They made their home in Springville, Utah.  She waited ever so patiently to be sealed to him in the Provo Temple November 18, 1981. They were sealed on their 35th wedding anniversary. She had prayed for this time and had never given up on her dream of having it happen. Patience was her virtue. She loved her family dearly and wanted to be able to spend eternity with them.

She loved the gospel and had so many opportunities to serve in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She served in Relief Society, Sunday School, Primary and was the ward librarian.  Two of her favorite callings were in the Young Women program earlier on in her life and handing out the Church Programs as long as she could before her death. She served in several positions in the YW program including secretary, counselor, advisor and camp director.  She was always known for pulling most of the pranks at camp. Saran Wrapped toilets, taking the girls bras and hanging them in the trees and several others. She would be right there with the girls raiding the food tent. She loved them all. She earned her personnal progress award as a leader around 1980. She and dad served home missions. One was in the Spanish Fork Bishop’s Warehouse and Employment center. They loved when they were able to find people jobs. They also served a mission at the old Provo Tabernacle. Mom also served in the Missionary Training Center where the new missionaries would come and knock on the door and they were supposed to attempt to teach her the gospel. She loved giving them a hard time.

Mom opened her arms and home to everyone she met. She loved helping and serving others.  We can't remember a time when she wasn't making food for funerals and visiting and taking treats to others in the ward. She loved being a visiting teacher and was very diligent in making sure she got her visiting teaching done every month.

She loved playing cards and had many grandchildren who would go over and spend an evening just playing cards.  She would often say, "If you are coming over to play cards leave your small kids home so they won't interrupt us."  Of course she loved the small children to come over but she was serious about her cards.

In the Spring and Summer she would wake up early everyday, play her organ for and hour, go on a 3-mile walk, go out on her balcony and play 10 games of solitaire, eat her breakfast, and go back inside and clean her home for the rest of the day. The balcony was her favorite place to be when the weather was warm. She loved her home. Everytime we would bring her back home from going somewhere she would say, "Who lives in this beautiful home? Oh I do."

She was proceeded in death by her husband Ken Lowe, her daughter Kathy Winnie, two grandaughters, a grandson, a great grandson, and her brother and sisters.

She is survived by her son, Ron (Susan) Lowe, daughter Gloria (Ron) Hatfield, daughter Susan (Zale) Vacher, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
