Terry William “Bill” Gale, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him most on September 30, 2021. Bill was born March 2, 1937 in Payson, UT to William Perry and June Laura Coult. Bill was sealed to the love of his life, Joan Gill, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1, 1961.

Bill graduated from Springville High School in 1955. He then enrolled at Brigham Young University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and graduated top of his class. He was also a member of the Athenian Fraternity. Bill also attended graduate school at Arizona State University.

Bill served in the Army Corps of Engineers and in the National Guard 116th Engineering Division. He was deployed in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis.

Bill worked as an electrical engineer for Motorola, Advanced Memory Systems, and National Semiconductor. He was on the forefront of designing and manufacturing semiconductors.

Bill was an avid fan of his beloved BYU Cougars. While he loved all sports, BYU athletics held a special place in his heart. Bill also loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing and camping with his family. While he loved sports and being in nature, most of Bill’s free time was spent doing family history work or serving in the temple.

Bill was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout his life. He served as a full-time missionary in the North Central States Mission. He later went on to serve in various capacities within the church, including but not limited to: ward mission leader, stake mission leader, first counselor in the bishopric, bishop, and stake executive secretary. Along with his devoted wife, Bill served three more missions: an inner city service mission from 2008-2010, a family history library mission from 2010-2012, and a family history mission in the Philippines Cebu Mission from 2012-2013. From 2015-2018, Bill served as an ordinance worker at the Mt. Timpanogos temple. Above all, Bill loved the Savior and wanted nothing more than to serve Him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joan, and their four children: Terry (Laurie) Gale of Eagle Mountain, UT; Kimberley (Darryl) Larson of Saratoga Springs, UT; Heather (Howard) McKeon of Washington D.C.; James (Priscilla) Gale of Eagle Mountain, UT; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Janet Gale (Donald) Parker and Charles Albert (Sally) Gale.
